1. Does Canada Apostilize documents?2025-04-22T19:38:23+00:00

Prior to Jan. 11, 2024

No. Only countries signatories of the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention provide apostilization. Prior to Jan. 11, 2024, Canada doesn’t currently offer apostilization, however, there exists an equivalent process, which takes three steps to make documents suitable for submission. The three steps are notarization, authentication, and legalization.

After Jan. 11, 2024

On May 12, 2023 Canada signed The Hague Convention and the Apostille process will take effect on January 11, 2023. Documents can now be apostilled on a provincial and federal level depending on the document and destination country the documents are getting prepared for. As the country reorganizes this process between provinces and countries, Legalize that Doc is staying up to date with all the changes happening within Canada. Processing American and European documents gives Legalize that Doc experience in the Apostille process requirements.

Yes! We do. We have an accountant on staff in Canada who can help you with the drafting of the Rentista letter by verifying your income and assets. This letter is needed in countries like Costa Rica for the rentista application.
