Federal Apostilization
Apostille is to verify the authenticity of a public official’s signature
Apostilization & authentication experience
Authorize documents through a federal authority for international use.
Essentially, apostilization is a single-certificate document authentication process used by countries that are signatories of the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention on Private International Law, which abolished the (lengthy) requirement of legalization of foreign public documents.
Being a signatory significantly simplifies the process of authentication. For instance, if a document is created in one participating country and needs to be used in another signatory country, all that is required is a notary public’s certification. Of course, the notary public needs to have apostille certification.
Canada joined the Hague on May 16th, 2023. Global Affairs announced this change will take effect as of January 11, 2024. All documents processed prior to this change will need to continue the Authentication and Legalization process. After January 11, 2024, documents will either be Apostilled on a Federal level or Apostilled on a provincial level. Unless the receiving country is not apart of The Hague. If that is the case then you will need an Apostille plus the legalization from the destination country’s embassy.
With us on the job, you take a seat while we do all the running around to secure appropriate authentications that suit your needs.
But if you’re not in Canada, we can easily help acquire an apostille. Each Hague signatory designates specific people or agencies with apostille certification authority. In the United States, it is generally the secretary of state of the notary public’s licensed state.
We can look after apostilization of a variety of public documents, such as birth certificates, court orders, or marriage certificates or another document issued by a U.S. federal agency.
“Legalize That Doc! looked after me so well, I’m out of country and it was like I was in their office. They communicated with myself and the third party involved efficiently and clearly. I would highly recommend them for any documentation that needs processing.”
